Congratulations to our Year 11 students, Alessia Ravazzotti (Speaker), Frank Dudley (Chair), and Elliot Ede (Questioner) who competed in the local heat of the English Speaking Union Competition at Saffron Walden County High School. Alessia spoke powerfully, supporting the view that ‘we have a moral duty to intervene in countries where governments are oppressing their people.’ Elliot asked some thoughtful, probing questions of the Speaker from SWCHS, and Frank chaired proceedings with style and confidence. Against some serious opposition from The Perse, Felsted and SWCHS, Walden School won the competition and will go onto compete in the next round on 6th February 2017 at Anglia Ruskin University.
